Origins isn't the only version of FF2 where you can do that. It's in all of them.Ravenfreak wrote: Mon Jan 26, 2026 11:21 pm I think Final Fantasy II's level up system doesn't make too much sense to me lol. Essentially you need to take a good amount of damage for your stats to go up which is odd. It's unique though I will give them that. It's broken in Origins, you can attack your own party members to get stronger lol.
What’s a RPG game mechanic that made NO sense?

I didn't know that, I thought it was only broken in Origins lol. That's good to know then, it'll make it easier to get through the game in Pixel Remaster. I already beat the game once, I was pretty OP by the end of the game because of this trick.Grungie wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 2:36 pmOrigins isn't the only version of FF2 where you can do that. Basically the way the game works is that to increase any stat, you have to do more of it.Ravenfreak wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 10:40 pm I didn't know that, I thought it was only broken in Origins lol. Attacking more increases attack
Getting hit more increases defense
Casting a spell makes the spell stronger
Casting magic increases MP
There's a trick to levelling spells faster: select the spell, select a target, and then cancel. Rinse and repeat 100 times and your spell will level up.
The concept of leveling stats in the game seem like they make sense on paper, but in practice, it can make levelling up more tedious than a traditional leveling up system.
