Final Fantasy II

Post by Ravenfreak »

Now this is an odd game. The reason why I say that is because the battle system is different than the first game and pretty much every other Final Fantasy game that came out after it. In this one you don't go up levels, but your stats go up. And I played the Origins version on the PS1 and there's an exploit that I used to make this game super easy. Every time you take damage or do damage your stats go up. But if you end up hitting yourself over and over again your stats will continue to get better and better. I don't believe you can do this in the original Famicom version but I could be wrong. I didn't mind the story but many people don't like this game's battle system so they brush it off and never finish it. Have you ever played this one?

Can't say I ever played this one. I looked up some gameplay footage and it is strange! Might have to give it a go sometime, just to say I did.

I have played this game but it was a long time ago, I don't exactly remember how I felt while playing. However, I frequently other installment of the games, for instance, I like VII and all the spin offs.

I have played Final Fantasy II before and I quite understand why you find the battle system odd. The stat-increasing system is definitely different from other Final Fantasy games, and I really find that intriguing.

Much like the first one, I played it on the GBA remaster, and I really liked its ost, not sure if I ever beat it though.

The OST is pretty good! Though honestly Final Fantasy is a series that has some killer soundtracks no matter the game! I've heard either the GBA or PSP port is the best version of the game, same with the first game.

Don't think I picked up the PSP version, but I still love my GBA copy, I should break it out sometime.

Since I beat Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, I moved on to this game last night. I can tell it seems like they may have patched the Pixel Remaster so you can't just easily attack yourself to increase your HP and other stats like you could in the Origins version lol. I already got knocked out at least 4 times because I went into battles that I wasn't prepared for. Currently I'm grinding a bunch and then I plan on talking the barkeep in Fynn.

I beat it a couple of months, I did explore too far when I first started playing it and got wrecked pretty quickly. If you do a bit of grinding, you only need to fear the monster chests.

Yeah I did that myself recently lol. It's easy to do, but once you figure out where the line is where you're going to fight stronger monsters you can avoid it. I also did quite a bit of grinding against those difficult monsters, so the first boss was super easy.
