Admin Approval Has Been Set For Registrations
Until I can fix the email problem, I have enabled admin approval when new members join. We've been getting too many spam bots recently and this is the only way I can handle them for now until the email problem is fixed. I still need to delete all the spam accounts that joined that have yet to post. I wouldn't want them to log back in and start spamming the forums. I might look into getting a separate host just for emails, since I can never get the emails to be set up properly on Hostinger.

It's indeed a big headache. I have done same on my forums too. There are lots of spam accounts that need to be deleted.

It really is a headache for sure. I still think MyBB is a bigger magnet for spam accounts though, I had a MyBB forum that had hundreds of spam accounts. I still need to go through and delete a bunch of them and figure out what I'm going to do with the forum.1stop wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 6:43 am It's indeed a big headache. True, indeed MyBB has a lot of spam when the proper anti-spam plugins are not installed. I have had to setup a couple of anti spam systems and modify the captcha settings to have things settle downRavenfreak wrote: Sat Aug 23, 2025 10:10 pmIt really is a headache for sure. Takes alot less time for us to ban the bots then it does for them to create the accounts.

Another example of a bot is when someone uses AI to write answers instead of using your own words, they copy the question for Meta AI or Grok or ChatGPT to generate the answers and then copy the AI answers on the forums pretending to be their own handwork.

That's what I do too. I banned all of them, now I have peace. It was so terrible!
