Crazy to think, wish I picked it up when I was a kid. I had so much time to play something like that.Grungie wrote: Wed Aug 26, 2026 4:13 pm The PS1 version of Dragon Quest VII is about 100 hours in a standard playthrough.
Yeah same here, I would love to play this game someday still though. (Heck I still need to play through at least one DQ game in my life...)Demonskeith wrote: Sat Aug 29, 2026 5:05 pmCrazy to think, wish I picked it up when I was a kid. Guess I'll never play the original; I don't have the time or patience for grinding these days.Grungie wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 4:26 pmThe game’s one of my all time favorites.Ravenfreak wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2026 10:11 pm Yeah same here, I would love to play this game someday still though. The 2 remakes take less time. A huge chunk of the time was for grinding for: character levels, job levels, money for equipment. It’s still a lengthy game, but it doesn’t feel as long when you’re constantly going from point a to b as opposed to having to stop everything to grind.
You could emulate the game then put on frame skip to make the process faster, mute the emulator and listen to music. That's how I would tackle it at least lol.Demonskeith wrote: Fri Sep 04, 2026 6:32 amGuess I'll never play the original; I don't have the time or patience for grinding these days.Grungie wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2026 4:26 pmThe game’s one of my all time favorites.Ravenfreak wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2026 10:11 pm Yeah same here, I would love to play this game someday still though. True, and maybe some mods that just up my level to skip all the grinding. It's what I did for Xenoblade Chronicles.Ravenfreak wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2026 1:09 amYou could emulate the game then put on frame skip to make the process faster, mute the emulator and listen to music.
