So I've barely played any of the Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest games. I haven't even played the sequel to the first game but I wanted to make a thread for it since the DQ series is quite popular. Have you ever played this game before and completed it? It's on my list of RPGs I need to play and beat. I don't think I own a physical copy of this one, I have the first game though.

I have played most of them by now, I plan on getting the 2.5 HD remakes later this year as they look fun.

The game's kind of mid. The first one kinda gets a pass on its simplicity for being the first JRPG. The second game is weird because it's in the weird in-between phase between the archaic 1 and the fully fleged out 3.
The final boss/dungeon in the NES version is brutal. It's slightly better in the SNES and GBC versions, but not great. The HD remake is very different, but in a good way.

Wouldn't be a NES game without something being impossible.

There’s fully fleshed out games on the NES. I name dropped DQ3 which is also on the NES, and there’s DQ4.
