How have you used dragons in your roleplaying game campaigns?

Dragons could be so important to role-playing games as they introduce some level of excitement to the game. You can customize their personalities and their motive which makes it even more immersive.
How have you used dragons in your roleplaying game campaigns?

I would use them as a means of scaring the party and keeping them going towards the end goal.

This is usually what we do whenever we play too. Though I would love to have a Dungeons and Dragons campaign based around Spyro the Dragon lol. It'd be cool to play as Spyro and have a friend play as sparx, other people could be the friends you get to control in Year of the Dragon.

That would be really good and fun! Not sure if I will find anyone local to do that lol.
