Heimdall

I used to have this game on the Sega CD. I thought it was a bit odd and I remember getting lost in it, so I think I eventually traded it in. This was a port of the game that was released on the Amiga and Atari ST computers. It was a mix of action rpg and turn based. Maybe I'll try to play it again via emulation. Here's a playthrough video, this is only part 1.

Looks rather fun, one day I'll take time for these classics rpgs.

Honestly I would look into playing the original game on a Atari ST or Amiga emulator, if you're going to play this. The game wasn't optimized for a controller, so some of the movement is annoying lol.

I've been there with PS1 controllers with added joy sticks lol. Sounds perfect for a keyboard though.

This actually attempted to combine action RPG with turn-based combat, but it was a bit awkward on Sega. I think it would be good to revisit it with emulation in order to get a smoother experience.

Was it awkward due to the Sega controller?

Yeah it wasn't a fun experience when I played the Sega CD version as a teenager with the 3 button controller. I didn't have a 6 button controller, but honestly it wouldn't have made a difference since the d-pad is the same between controllers lol.

I wish a lot of classic games got a modern controller redo, many needed more than the few buttons they were made for.

There are so many old games that would be better with modern controllers. Occasionally, the restrictions present in the use of the buttons at the time did indeed make some games much more difficult than necessary.
