Is choosing classes new in recent versions? I just remember set classes in the original game.

Yeah there's only set classes but you can promote your characters later in the game. I wish I picked a white or black mage, even the Red Wizard can't learn everything like I thought he could. :V I know I had a white mage in my party when I first played the game via Origins. I kind of want to start a new save with a completely different party when I get done with this playthrough. xDDemonskeith wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 7:45 am Is choosing classes new in recent versions? Thankfully this is a short game, so easy enough to replay it.Ravenfreak wrote: Thu Jan 29, 2026 12:30 amYeah there's only set classes but you can promote your characters later in the game. Yep and it'll be fresh in my mind so I'll remember where to go! It's definitely one of the shortest RPGs I've played.

It was their last hurrah, they didn't think it expands into a never ending series.

Yep that's why it's called Final Fantasy, crazy to think about! I just restored light to the water crystal this evening, so I'm getting one step closer to the end of the game! My party is at level 32 now, I suspect I'll need to do some grinding soon.

Aand now I'm stuck on Chaos. :V I beat the game before so I know I can do it again. I do have a different party though, unfortunately none of my party members can learn the strongest Black and White magic, since only Black Mages/Wizards and White Mages/Wizards can learn that. I bought a bunch of Giant Tonics but that's still not helping much. I need to try and farm more X-Potions I only have two right now.

Getting more of those potions will help, always hope on some lucky RNG not killing you at the worst time.Ravenfreak wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 11:23 pm Aand now I'm stuck on Chaos. :V I beat the game before so I know I can do it again. I finally beat him last night. What I did was spam temper a few times on my Knight as well as haste. I also used a few Strength Tonics on him as well, and healed him as much as possible. The rest of my party got knocked out but he survived and landed the finishing blow.Demonskeith wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 7:45 amGetting more of those potions will help, always hope on some lucky RNG not killing you at the worst time.Ravenfreak wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 11:23 pm Aand now I'm stuck on Chaos. :V I beat the game before so I know I can do it again. Very nice, I should have gotten the PS4 version myself, I would have loved going after the trophies.Ravenfreak wrote: Fri Feb 06, 2026 11:49 pmI finally beat him last night.
